is loreal shampoo good for hair

Good day girls! You’ve probably heard of L’Oréal as it is a big name when it comes to hair products. In fact, many of these products are used in large beauty events and salons. But have you ever wondered whether these products are really good for hair? Are its ingredients safe? And if yes, how do you choose the right L’Oréal shampoo for your hair type?

Find out the answers in this article as I look at a few of the best shampoos from L’Oréal and show which of them are suitable for colored and for natural hair. Let’s get started!

Is Loreal Shampoo Good for Hair?

The short answer is yes, especially if the person knows the exact hair or scalp problem they are facing. L’Oréal shampoos are generally good for hair. They are formulated to curb all the hair issues one could think of.

Some shampoos are designed to target the hair molecular structure from the core to help maintain your hair’s beauty while others are formulated to repair damaged and frizzy hair.

L’Oréal becomes a globally successful player because it highlights universalization in its offerings. Their products are ones that respect, understand, and capture differences in terms of traditions, needs, and desires of customers – whether that’d be,  hair care, hair color, skincare, and make-up.

Best Loreal Shampoos in 2022

1.  L’Oréal Total Repair 5 Shampoo- Best Damaged Hair

Product Description

Let’s begin this list of products with L’Oreal Total Repair 5. First off, I’m amazed how one product can combat 5 signs of damage: hair fall, roughness, dryness, dullness, and split ends. It also promised to make your hair stronger, smooth, nourished, shiny, and with fewer split ends.

Of course, I tested it myself and noticed that it does make my hair moisturized. The fragrance is nice. One that spreads all over your bathroom. The shampoo has a creamy texture, thick consistency, and is white in color.

Every time I’m using this Loreal shampoo, I take a coin-sized amount and apply it to my wet hair, and lather it thoroughly. After 2 minutes, I rinse it off. After a few weeks of using the product, I noticed no side effects and I love how it washes out the oil well. It just makes my hair soft and I am very happy to use this shampoo.

This Loreal shampoo contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), which takes the residue and oil in your scalp and hair for cleansing. To avoid damaging the hair, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride is also added to its ingredient list. This conditioning agent is positively charged or neutralizes the negative charges on hair strands that cause hair to be tangled or static.

You’ll also find polyquaternium-7 in its ingredient list. It is an excellent cationic conditioner that provides slip on your hair for easy wet-combing and is a very good detangler too. When all the ingredients are combined, it helps renew damaged hair as well as penetrate deeply to repair damaged hair fibers from overpressing.

At best, use it on alternate days to keep your hair strong and not dry or dull. Too much shampoo, whatever is the brand, can strip the important oils that our scalp produces, leaving your scalp and hair too dry.

My overall impression of this product is that it is worth buying and possesses all the qualities of a good shampoo. It cleanses out oil and dirt well and makes hair smoother and silkier. It smells and feels luxurious too!

Pros

  • Good value for money
  • Makes hair smooth and soft
  • Does not make the hair greasy
  • Repairs and prevents hair from damage
  • Adds volume and makes the hair thicker
  • The smell is sweet but is not overwhelming

Con/s

  • Not ideal for those who don’t prefer products with Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) content
  • The price is a little bit high compared to other shampoo brands

3. L’Oreal Paris EverPure Volume Sulfate-Free Shampoo- Best Shampoo for Flat Hair

Product Description

I have quite a few favorites from the L’Oréal hair care collection and L’Oreal Paris EverPure Volume Sulfate-Free Shampoo is one of them. It does not just add volume to your tresses but also cleanses your scalp and hair.

The EverPure Volume System shampoo contains lotus flower extract known to soothe the scalp and reduce inflammation, lowering the chances of dandruff and any itching. It also helps restore flat hair.

One bottle lasted for about three months and it does work wonders on damaged/dry hair as a revival shampoo. It is not so drying so you won’t have to worry that it strips your hair of its natural oils. This sulfate-free shampoo is also used for processed hair.

All in all, I love this L’oreal shampoo and recommend it to anyone who wants thicker-looking hair.

4. L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Curls Shampoo – Best for Curly Hair

Product Description

Coils and curls are beautiful, but they require special hair care maintenance to keep them in shape. So, I searched for one of the best shampoos formulated for curly hair. It’s the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Curls Shampoo.

It works to redefine and replenish curls while eliminating dryness. It contains an oil complex with coconut, amla, rose, sunflower, and soja. All these work together for a conditioning effect and increased hair and scalp hydration.

It moreover cleanses your hair while giving it a luxurious silky soft feel and smells wonderful too! But just to let you know, while it does enhance and define your natural curl, it’s not meant to make straight or wavy hair more curly.

For the best result, apply the shampoo to wet hair, massage through your curly strands, rinse out, and then follow with your favorite conditioner. Overall, I highly recommend it for people who want to renourish their curls.

Pros

  • Enhances and defines curls
  • No issues with drying out, frizzing, or breaking off even after long-term of using this shampoo
  • Smells good
  • Keeps hair clean

Con/s

  • None

5. L’Oréal Nutri Gloss Shampoo – Best for Thinning Hair

Product Description

It is totally normal to lose hair (about 50 to 100 hair strands per day). But noticing your hair falling out more than usual or finding it thinner than it once was can be distressing and disheartening.

If this is your concern, then I highly recommend you the Loreal Nutri Gloss Shampoo. While it is primarily marketed as one to add mirror shine to your hair, it is formulated to reduce hair breakage and provides nourishment without weighing down the hair.

This Loreal shampoo is enriched with hydrolyzed conchiolin protein, hydrolyzed wheat starch, and hydrolyzed wheat protein that all help nourish hair. It’s good for those with thin hair or dry hair too as it contains jojoba wax and pearl extract, giving your hair the lustrous shine it needs.

If you’re looking for a Loreal shampoo with anti-breakage formula, then we highly recommend you the L’Oreal Professionnel Serie Expert instead. This one contains biotin and vitamin B6 for instant reduction of hair breakage, making your hair stronger and more resistant with the continued user. The fact that it smells beautiful is a huge plus too!

The Loreal Professional Serie Expert also has a purifying formula that helps control and combat scalp flakiness. It makes your hair feel fresh and light instantly, eliminating dirt stuck to the hair follicles. Both the Professional Series Expert and the Nutri Gloss are some of my favorites.

Pros

  • Innovated formula
  • Adds shine to hair
  • Nourishes hair
  • Helps you manage hair fall
  • No separate conditioning required
  • Does not dry out hair
  • Makes hair soft and smooth
  • Cleanses the scalp and hair well (good also for oily hair)

Con/s

  • Does not control frizz
  • Contains SLES
  • Contains paraben

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About Loreal Shampoos

Is Loreal shampoo good for hair growth?

Yes, there are Loreal shampoos that are specially formulated to promote hair growth. The L’oreal Paris Fall Resistant Shampoo is a good example of that.

Loreal shampoos help protect hair tips and nourish hair roots. So they help strengthen your hair, restructure hair fiber, and improve the texture of the hair.

Is Loreal Paris shampoo good for hair fall?

You can find a L’oreal professional shampoo that works best to reduce hair fall. Take, for instance, the Loreal Paris anti-hair fall shampoo with scalp nourishing treatment. The secret ingredient in Loreal shampoos formulated to resist hair fall is arginine essence. It stimulates hair growth and helps restore natural hair thickness.

If your main goal is to promote hair growth, though, avoid using Loreal hair color – or other brands of hair color – for a while to give your hair enough time for repair.

Is Loreal shampoo safe?

Loreal committed itself to eliminate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in its products and to ensure that its shampoos are totally safe for consumers. All their ingredients fully comply with regulations. Some shampoos use short-chain parabens but are in optimal concentration and are used only to ensure that their shampoos are well-protected against microbes.

How do I choose the right L’oreal shampoo for me?

The rule of the thumb is this: Choose a shampoo based on your scalp condition. This way, if your ends are dry and your scalp is oily – a common problem – it is best to choose a shampoo that is best suited for an oily scalp and match it to a conditioner that helps hydrate dry ends.

  • Dry hair – People with dry hair need a shampoo that is rich in essential oils, such as grape seed oil, coconut oil, argan oil, and avocado oil.
  • Color hair – When your hair is colored regularly, then shampoo with color preservatives would be the best choice.
  • Thick hair – Thick healthy hair is more likely to get dirty or gather dirt very fast than thin hair. As such, they need a shampoo that contains an equal amount of cleanser enough to clean their hair and nourish their thick hair.
  • Thin hair – Those with thin hair require a shampoo that contains a cleansing agent. They may also pick a volumizing shampoo if they have fine hair.
  • Oily hairIf you have oily hair, you don’t really need any special type of shampoo. But it is possible that your main issue instead is dandruff. That’s because yeast thrives on an oily scalp. So, your best option could be an anti-dandruff shampoo.

Takeaway

L’Oréal Paris is a trusted beauty care brand that uses good ingredients in its products. Its shampoos do more than just cleaning. They are also formulated to protect the shaft of strands and scalp, which altogether helps in making the hair strong. So, learn a bit more about your hair today so you can finally pick the right shampoo for your hair type and discover the beauty within!
